What types of services are covered under Medicare Part A?
- Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital care for up to 90 days each benefit period, and also includes an additional 60 reserve days allocated over the lifetime of the plan.
- Medicare Part A covers care within a skilled nursing facility for a maximum of 100 days each benefit period. Policyholders must have been in the hospital for at least 3 consecutive days within the 30 days prior to skilled nursing facility admission. Policyholders must also require skilled nursing services seven days per week, or therapy services at least five days per week.
- Medicare Part A covers home health care for up to a maximum of 100 days. Policyholders must have been in the hospital for a least three days in the 14 days prior to becoming homebound.
